21 July 2016, Krefeld, Germany /Tokyo, Japan – Today Wacom Co., Ltd. announced the latest addition to its signature pad portfolio, the STU-430V - adding to its growing support for handwritten electronic signature capture in virtualised desktop environments. The STU-430V’s connectivity options enable it to be installed in a variety of terminal server environments, allowing a broader audience to implement signature pads from the global leader in dedicated signature capture devices.
What sets the STU-430V apart is its ability to support both standard USB connections and virtual serial over USB. The STU-430V is designed to support virtualised desktop environments, including Citrix v6.5, by using a virtual COM port connection over USB. It emulates a serial connection, but uses a physical USB connection to the client terminal. If the user ever migrates to an environment that does not require the virtual serial mode, such as Citrix v7.6.3 or newer, the STU-430V can be set for standard USB connectivity.
“The way in which we work in many professions has changed drastically over the last decade. We are seeing an increase in deployments of various different terminal server environments that bring greater security and compliance, cost-effectiveness and easy-to-manage solutions to enterprise operations. We have also seen a growing desire to collect signatures for eDocuments in that space,” said Shigeki Komiyama, Wacom’s EVP and head of Business Solutions Business Unit. “The STU-430V expands Wacom’s ability to meet those needs in a paperless environment.”
The new STU-430V features a 4.5” monochrome LCD display that accommodates a generous signature area as well as soft buttons. It offers a comfortable signing experience with its low profile and flat surface. The hardened glass surface is very durable and highly resistant to scratches.
Wacom’s patented cordless and battery-free pen technology means no batteries or power cords are needed for the pen, and it provides users with a natural writing experience. It also delivers an industry-leading 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity that can capture a signer’s pressure profile as part of the unique biometric profile during the signing process. State-of-the-art encryption ensures transactions are performed safely and securely and each unit is assigned a unique hardware ID in order to determine the exact unit that was used for a particular signature.
The STU-430V joins Wacom’s portfolio of signature pads, which includes the STU-300B, STU-430 and STU-530. The entire family is supported natively in Citrix v7.6.3 and later. The STU-430V’s ability to support older versions of Citrix as well as other terminal server environments expands the market support that Wacom offers.
Wacom’s Signature SDK (Software Development Kit) and STU SDK (Software Development Kit) are available to integrate with a native system.
