Color Management

The Importance of Color

Excellent color quality displays, and color managed workflows are essential for professional artists, designers, and editors. The fast-paced rate at which creatives must work requires that color is done right the first time, every time. There is often no room in the schedule for multiple adjustments and re-editing. In addition, geographically dispersed teams and virtual production pipelines, require the highest quality tools to achieve consistent and reliable color across all devices and applications in the workflow. And of course, all creatives want the colors that they see on their displays to faithfully replicate their final output in print, web, video or a physical product. If color is important to you, Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 is the ideal foundation upon which to build your creative workflow.

Whether you’re a photographer, illustrator, animator, video editor or designer, you (and your eyes) need a display of the highest quality to assure that you are productive and can create and deliver you very best work. Read on to understand why the Cintiq Pro 27 provides creatives with all new levels of performance and productivity and can even save the cost of a secondary color reference monitor.

Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 Color Performance

10-bit color

As opposed to 8-bit displays which are only capable of showing 16 million shades of color, Cintiq Pro 27 is a 10-bit display, and when used with compatible computers and applications, is capable of showing more than 1 billion shades of color. This higher bit depth is desirable in many workflows, giving a greater sense of depth, smoother transitions and blends.

100% sRGB and Rec 709 coverage

sRGB and Rec 709 are smaller color spaces than Adobe RGB, but it is important to have complete coverage for web and traditional broadcast content.

99% Adobe RGB Coverage

Cintiq 27 Pro offers coverage for nearly the entire Adobe RGB spectrum commonly used in most graphic design and illustration applications.

98% DCI-P3 coverage

DCI-P3 is the standard for Cinema and at 98%, the Cintiq Pro 27 covers nearly the entire space.

Factory calibrations

For Rec 2020, EBU, and SMPTE-C, and preset modes for PQ (DCI and Rec. 2100) and HLG (Rec. 2100) are available for viewing HDR content.

Color accuracy of Delta E < 2

Displays with lower Delta E produce more accurate colors without color distortion, while also ensuring there is no color difference between the Cintiq Pro and other calibrated displays. With factory calibrations having a Delta E of <2 color deviance should be Indistinguishable between any accurate color managed displays. For professionals who work on one monitor and review on another, accurate and consistent color reproduction is key.

Pantone® Validated

Creatives have long trusted the Pantone system (PMS) for color reproduction across a wide range of uses such as graphics, packaging, branding fashion and industrial design. Not only is the Cintiq Pro 27 Pantone Validated but it has also received Pantone SkinTone Validation which meets the Pantone standard for displaying the entire range of skin tones in the Pantone system.

Wacom Color Manager for Cintiq Pro

While the Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 has exceptional color performance, it can be calibrated using the Wacom Color Manager to maintain its accuracy throughout the life of the product.

Maintaining your display in perfect color calibration

Calibration is the method by which a monitor's display characteristics are adjusted to a specified target value using a dedicated sensor, or colorimeter. Wacom® Color Manager, Powered by X-Rite (includes the Wacom Calibrator hardware and custom Wacom Profiler software) can help take the mystery and complexity out of color management and make sure that colors on your display and in your finished work reproduce exactly as you intend and look true-to-life on all your devices.

Cintiq Pro supports ADC (automatic direct control)

Cintiq Pro ADC allows a streamlined control of the color manager to adjust hardware settings without human error and substantially increases the speed of the color calibration process. Cintiq Pros calibrate in half the time of most monitors.

Hardware Look Up Tables

Internal Look Up Tables (LUTs) allow Color scientists or artists to calibrate the Cintiq pro to specific color targets and write that profile to the hardware. This means the display can move from computer to computer, or easy deployment without having to recalibrate when connecting to another computer.
